Dear Cultural Colleagues:
The Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continues to monitor the forecast track of Tropical Storm Eta. At this time, the Emergency Operations Center is activated at Level 2. A Hurricane Watch and Tropical Storm warning are in effect for Miami-Dade County. We are preparing for possible severe weather conditions to begin as early as today, Sunday, November 8th at 4 p.m.
It is important to review your storm and hurricane preparedness plan and be sure to take the necessary precautions now.
On October 26, 2020, the City of Miami responded to the County’s appeal to the Third District Court of Appeal. You can see the County’s appeal here and the City’s response here.

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs has received several requests for clarification regarding the variety of governmental messages recently issued about pandemic regulations. Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez has just issued a set of rules that reiterate and revise the County’s New Normal guidelines. The highlights are outlined below and we are here to help.
The Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is studying the challenges that local business are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Your responses to this survey will help identify needs and target resources where they are needed most.

As we move into the fall and the 8th month of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis, the latest results of the monthly COVID-19 Survey of Impact on Miami-Dade County's Cultural Community substantiate what we continue to hear anecdotally from our cultural institutions and artists.

The 2nd and final Miami-Dade County Budget Hearing concluded last night and the Department’s 2020-2021 budget, as recommended by Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, was approved by the Board of County Commissioners with our grants programs renewed at status quo levels.

With what is likely to be our most usual start of season of the arts ever due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the COVID-19 Survey of Impact on Miami-Dade County's Cultural Community continues to be an important tool to document the profound impact of this health crisis on arts and culture. With the help of your monthly responses, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs has documented a total financial impact of $99.5 million with 15,965 arts and cultural jobs affected for the period of March – July 2020.
