On April 12, 2024, the Appellate Division of the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit denied the opposing counsel’s motion for a rehearing, leaving in place its ruling in favor of Miami-Dade County, granting the County’s appeal regarding the Coconut Grove Playhouse. To recap, Miami-Dade County filed a brief to overturn the City of Miami Planning and Zoning Appeals Board’s unsupported and erroneous decision to grant an appeal stopping the County’s approval of a waiver.

This year, the inaugural Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Legacy in Arts Award Honoree is cultural leader Rosie Gordon-Wallace, President and Curator of the Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator.
