Liliana Hernandez-Constenla has over 20 years of experience managing marketing and outreach programs in public and private sectors. She serves as the Marketing and Public Affairs Officer for the Department and assists the Director with the management of the Department’s public profile. She is the point person for media relations and all external communications. Liliana also manages the award-winning Golden Ticket Arts Guide outreach program and works closely with non-profit cultural organizations to produce and distribute a comprehensive annual guide that promotes the arts and provides free admission to the Miami-Dade County older adult population. In 2022 she served on the Miami-Dade County "No Wrong Door" Task Force, providing input in the development and rollout of a major community-focused initiative designed to connect residents to government resources and community-based organizations.
Liliana joined the Department as the Cultural Projects Officer for the Tourist Development Council quarterly grant program in 2006, which provides funding support for cultural and special events, as wells as sports and television/film projects promoting Miami-Dade County as a tourist destination. She has extensive experience working with major cultural special events and tourism, including serving as the Marketing Manager at the Deering Estate at Cutler, a tourist attraction and cultural heritage site, part of Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department. There she managed all audience cultivation, public relations, marketing and advertising initiatives, and served as the liaison to the Greater Miami Conventions and Visitors Bureau. During her time there Liliana earned the National Association of Counties excellence award for a communications campaign for a public program, The Transit of Venus.
Previously Liliana worked at the full-service advertising agency Beber Silverstein Partners in the public relations division, where she managed special event logistics and media relations for McDonald’s Restaurants’ of South Florida. During her time there she was responsible for local and national events targeting the Hispanic market, including the introduction of the Lo McXimo de la Musica concert series featuring international “Rock Latino” acts in Orlando and Miami, Florida and the McDonald's annual fundraiser, World Children's Day. She was point person for the Ronald McDonald literacy initiative and developed key partnerships with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami-Dade Public Library System. Liliana also gained experience coordinating event logistics and media outreach for major local art fairs and expos, including Merrill Lynch Arteamericas, the premier Latin American art fair in Miami, and CubaNostalgia.
A lover of literature and film buff, Liliana studied creative writing, foreign literature and film at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. She has a Master of Science degree in Marketing Communications, specializing in international marketing, advertising and public relations campaigns. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida International University and was the recipient of the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund award in 1993. Liliana is fully bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish.
