LOCATION: Carrie Meek International Business Park, Opa-Locka, FL
Miami-Dade County and Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs through its Art in Public Places Program request qualifications from professional artists and / or artists teams to create landmark artworks for the Carrie Meek International Business Park at the Miami-Opa-Locka Executive Airport, including:
• New construction of the Project Nebula Amazon.com Inc. Fulfillment Center by Foundry Commercial
• New Construction of the Carrie Meek Foundation Building
The Amazon Fulfillment Center will occupy some 91 acres and will be the first tenant in the Carrie Meek International Business Park which is being developed through a joint-venture comprised of the Carrie Meek Foundation, Inc. and Foundry Commercial on a 122-acre development parcel which us under long-term lease with Miami-Dade County.
The selected artists will design unique artworks that enrich the public environment of these facilities, bring unexpected and delightful encounters for visitors, and preserve and enhance the artistic and civic pride of Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs through its Art in Public
Places Program and PortMIAMI request qualifications from professional
artists and/or artist teams to create landmark artwork(s) to activate the new
Cruise Terminal B - Norwegian Cruise Line Terminal and parking garage.
The selected artist(s) will design a unique artwork that will contribute to the
identity of this facility and bring unexpected and delightful encounters for
visitors.
It is envisioned that Art in Public Places will commission 2-4 artists for this
opportunity. This project is LEED Silver and artworks must support this standard.

New funding opportunity: The Ellies, Miami’s Visual Arts Awards
Submit online application by May 24, 2018
ArtCenter/South Florida just announced it will be offering up to $500,000 to individual artists this year through The Ellies, Miami’s Visual Arts Awards. Most of the funding will go to project grants from $2,500 to $25,000. K-12 teachers are also eligible for travel grants.

Now more than ever, students receiving special education are being included in the general education art classroom. Are new and veteran art teachers prepared to meet the needs of ALL students? This webinar will provide a "crash course" in strategies for creating a successful inclusive elementary visual art class, with a focus on students with autism, sensory processing disorders, and ADHD.
Presenter: Susan Coll-Guedes, M.Ed., has over 15 years of experience teaching art in inclusive classrooms and is on the faculty of Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia where she teaches Special Education. She is certified in Art K-12, General Education and is trained as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant.
