Roxana Barba is an arts administrator and artist with twenty years of professional experience.

She joined the Department of Cultural Affairs on 2012, taking over the management of the Community Grants program, a quarterly project-based grant serving arts collectives, arts non-profits, social services organizations, municipalities and universities for six years.  She now oversees two annual operating grant programs: Developing Arts in Neighborhoods (DAN) and Hannibal Cox Junior (HCJ), as well as the department's project-based International Cultural Partnerships (ICP) grant program and Artist Access, an individual artist grant designed to enrich the artistic practice of Miami-based artists.

Prior to joining the Cultural Affairs Department, Roxana served as Community Program Manager with Arts for Learning, overseeing teaching artists’ residencies and developing vibrant art in education programs. She also lived and worked in Mexico City for five years, where she taught dance, performed and toured with Mexican dance companies.

She remains defiantly committed to her artistic practice, incorporating interdisciplinary uses of dance, film and installation. Her choreography has been presented by Perez Art Museum (PAMM), Women in Dance Leadership Conference (NYU), Miami Performance International Festival and La Quiñonera, Mexico. She has also performed with choreographer Letty Bassart and Juggerknot Theatre Company. Her films have screened at Miami Film Festival, Cucalorus Film Festival and Short Waves Festival, among others and has been featured by Women Cinemakers Biennale (Germany). She holds a BFA degree in Dance from New World School of the Arts.
